Deadline reports that Eva Green (most notably known for her role as Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale) has landed the role of Angelique in Tim Burton’s adaptation of Dark Shadows, the 1960s daytime supernatural soap opera. In the series, Angelique was a poweful witch who engaged in a love-hate relationship with Barnabas Collins (Johnny Depp).
This comes on the back of news that Jackie Earle Haley would play Willie Loomis, a con artist who becomes Barnabas’ servant, and newcomer actress Bella Heathcote would play Victoria “Vicki” Winters. It’s nice to see Burton returning a bit to films similar to Beetlejuice and I think Eva Green is a great choice for the role, on the back of some really strong performances (I’ve heard nothing but good things about her last project, Perfect Sense, which played at Sundance). Do you think she is the right choice for the role?
