India is to get an Australian film festival next month, organised by An Australian Film Initiative, for professionals to promote their work in the emerging networks of India, Middle East, and South America. Peter Castaldi and Anupam Sharma will be the directors of the Australian Film Festival of India, which will be held annually in Mumbai coinciding with the Indian screen conference FICCI-FRAMES.
The festival will showcase a premiere of a new Australian film alongside a number of Australian features, documentaries and shorts. The event will also include a retrospective of internationally acclaimed director Bill Bennett, masterclasses by film professionals and a financial grant for development of an Indo-Australian project.
The film screenings will be held March 26-27, while the knowledge series will be integrated with the FICCI-FRAMES 2011, scheduled March 23-25.
